From my experience I would advise anyone thinking about taking a postgraduate degree that it is an immensely fulfilling experience. My year at Bath Spa was a period of discovery, which has been seminal in motivating me to follow my ambitions with confidence.

The course at Bath Spa invigorated me by its encouragement of an interdisciplinary approach to the study of literature, and it appeared to offer a well realized balance between personal study and teaching. The course was split in half with three taught modules - the Issues in Literature module, the Literary Studies Now module and the Research Methods module. We also had to give in one 3000-word dissertation with supervision. My dissertation was entitled Unity-in-Diversity -- Nature in Thomas Hardys Novels of Character and Environment.

The study I undertook at Bath Spa allowed me to develop ideas that I now feel are worthy of full time attention in the form of a PhD. It was a formative period that I can now appreciate in hindsight.
